The Halden Hound is a medium, rectangular scenthound with a long head, dropped ears, and a short tricolor coat. The outline is that of a light Norwegian foxhound, built for forest work.

A Norwegian scent hound with a short coat and a trail voice; he wants forest miles, not a still apartment day.

The Halden Hound, or Haldenstover, is a Norwegian scenthound from the area around Halden, used on hare and fox. It is the rarest of the Norwegian hounds. The UKC classes it as a Scenthound.

Color: White with black patches and tan markings (tricolor)
Coat: Short, harsh, and close, with a dense undercoat

Temperament

These hounds are typically friendly with their hunter and determined on a track. They have a musical voice and will follow a scent out of an unfenced yard. They need more running than a short walk.

Wipe the short coat and clean the ears after work in cover.

The breed is generally hardy. Ear infections are the issue most often seen after field work.
