The Stabyhoun is a medium, slightly rectangular Frisian gundog with a long black-and-white or brown-and-white coat, dropped ears, and a feathered tail. The outline is that of a versatile farm and hunting dog.

A Frisian gundog and farm dog for an active house; a coat that sheds, a generally friendly voice, and daily work or long walks.

The Stabyhoun is a rare Dutch gundog from Friesland, used to point, retrieve, and hunt vermin on farms. The AKC lists the breed in FSS; the UKC classes it as a Gun Dog.

Temperament

Stabyhouns are typically gentle, people-oriented, and eager to work. They need field work or long walks. They are usually good house dogs if they get enough exercise.
