The Afghan Collie is an intentional cross, not a kennel-club breed with a single written standard. Two dogs from the same pairing can differ in size, coat, and temperament, because each puppy inherits a different mix of traits from the contributing breeds.

An Afghan Collie mixes the Afghan Hound with the Border Collie. Height and coat can lean either way: a tall, silky sighthound outline, or a medium herding dog with a finer, longer jacket than a typical Border Collie.
The two parents work very differently. The Border Collie wants to control movement; the Afghan Hound wants to chase what moves. That combination needs more thought than a backyard fence. Long walks, a secure run, and training that gives the dog a task work better than leaving it to invent herding or coursing games on its own.
